SNES Collector's Guide: Top Games, Values & Buying Tips

A Super Nintendo purchase is easier to evaluate when the seller describes a specific tested setup. This checklist is about inspecting the actual offer, not assigning a value to every game or predicting future prices.
Confirm exactly what is included
List the console, controller, power supply, display cable and any game or accessory explicitly included. An empty original box is not a complete system. Ask about items that appear in a photograph but are not mentioned in the description.
Ask how it was tested
Check whether the console produced a stable picture and audio, whether a game was used, and whether controller inputs were checked. A seller who has only verified that a power light turns on has not described a complete playback test.
Inspect physical condition
Look for cracks, damaged connectors, missing covers, discoloration and evidence of repairs. Ask for close photographs of unclear areas. Cosmetic changes do not necessarily establish whether hardware works, and a clean appearance does not prove authenticity or completeness.
Check compatibility with your setup
Confirm the exact regional version, power requirements and display connection offered. Read the manufacturer documentation for your own equipment rather than assuming that a cable or adapter will work. Keep electrical repairs to qualified people.
Use asking prices as research, not valuations
Compare similarly complete and tested offers, and include delivery and any tax shown on eBay. Loose cartridges, complete boxed games and reproduction items are different purchase categories. If the evidence is weak or return terms are unclear, ask questions or pass.
